Masur Pouf and Ticka Project, Selected Exhibitions, and Custom-Made Furniture for Hostler Burrows
Carina Grefmar and Louise Hederström began their collaboration in 2015 with the The New Map project, which introduced a new model for collaboration between designers and manufacturers aimed at sustaining local production—specifically in Skåne. This project led to several exhibitions, sparking a desire to continue working together, and thus their ongoing collaboration under the Grefmar+Hederström brand.
Grefmar+Hederström explore the possibilities of challenging leather as a material, focusing on its sculptural potential and creating furniture with an organic expression. The design and craftsmanship meet in the process, discovering new ways to work with the material. Their work centers on high-quality craftsmanship and the resourceful use of discarded or third-rate leather from Swedish cows.
The proximity of both studios in Malmö allows for constant dialogue and personal meetings, which is of great importance throughout the production process—from initial concept to finished product.
Over the years, Grefmar+Hederström has been featured in numerous exhibitions. Since 2017, they have been represented by Hostler Burrows Gallery in New York and Los Angeles.
Hostler Burrows is a design gallery founded in 1998 by Juliet Burrows and Kim Hostler. Initially dedicated exclusively to Nordic design and decorative arts, the gallery has since broadened its program to include a wide range of contemporary artists, both established and emerging, alongside historical works. While international in scope, the gallery’s primary focus remains on Scandinavian design, particularly studio ceramics, with an emphasis on works by female artists.
